Photographed in the aftermath of the Eaton Fire, The Lonely Bug shows a rusted Volkswagen Beetle tucked behind a cinderblock wall, partially covered by a weathered tarp. I passed it many times before stopping to make a picture, drawn to the way it seemed frozen in time. It’s part of my ongoing 8x10 series documenting loss, resilience, and the landscape of recovery in Altadena, California.
This image was scanned from the original 8x10 film negative and printed as a giclée print using archival pigment ink on Canson Platine Fibre Rag paper.
The printed image measures 13.6 x 17 inches and includes a clean white border, designed to fit a standard 16x20 frame without a mat.
